Private businesses invested nearly 10,000 billion against flooding

The project includes the construction of six categories: control drain tide, 7 km de Saigon Riverside, 68 small tribute under the levees. This project is expected to help reduce the damage caused by flooding, the tide caused to about 6.5 million inhabitants of the city.

PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE of HO CHI MINH CITY HO CHI MINH CITY PEOPLE'S COUNCIL standing recommendations recently approved for a private company 9,850 billion investment project against flooding due to tide over an area of 570 km2 with 6.5 million inhabitants in the area of the Saigon River and in the heart of the city.

According to the PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE of HO CHI MINH CITY, anti-flooding projects implemented in the form of contract to BT (build-transfer) and the city will pay back to investors by the Land Fund and the budget. As expected, during 8 years, the city will pay back to investors by Fund, 15% of the land value and the payment by money accounted for 85%. The project implementation period is expected from 2015 to 2018. The clearance for the project will be from now until the 4th quarter/2016 according to the form book, premiered at the cost of about 1,790 billion (previous investors entire funding implementation).

HO CHI MINH CITY PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE said, the anti-flooding projects undertaken by the company include several categories: build 6 drain control dynasties (PBN, Thuan, Phu Xuan, Banana Trees, Ditches dry, Phú Định); build near 7 km waterfront dykes and drains small 68 under the levees. This works are scattered across the County: 1, 4, 7, 8, Tan Binh and Binh Chanh district.

After completion of the projects put into use will help reduce the direct and indirect damages that may occur due to flooding, the tide in the area of 570 km2 (with 6.5 million inhabitants live) at the banks of the Saigon River and the downtown area.

According to the PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE of HO CHI MINH CITY, the speed of urbanization in the city took place quickly (freed after 40 years, the population has increased by more than 10 million people, five times previously) resulted in overloading of infrastructure, including drainage system. Besides, the natural conditions are not favourable (low-lying terrain, borders the large estuary, weak, …), turning the increasingly unfavorable weather led to attenuated status becomes increasingly serious. Earlier, at the meeting of Permanent Government on implementation of the drainage and planning against HCM attenuated, the Prime Minister agreed to HO CHI MINH CITY PEOPLE'S COMMITTEE to apply special mechanisms to accelerate the progress of projects against attenuated. Accordingly, Saigon is applied form of payment by the Land Fund, BT; the case of the value soil Fund payment is smaller than the value the project BT, HOCHIMINH to be paid by the city budget for the difference; applies the specified form investor to implement the project.
